Man fatally shot by masked intruders in McHenry County home, authorities say
Apr 11, 2018Donald Jouravleff, 52, died Sunday at Centegra Hospital in McHenry, where he was treated for gunshot wounds after a suspected home invasion the previous day, according to McHenry County Coroner Anne Majewski.No arrests have been made in the case, officials said.Sheriff's deputies and Nunda Rural Fire Protection District responders were called to Jouravleff's home outside McHenry about 1 a.m. Saturday and found him shot and seriously wounded, authorities said.Police said they learned from a witness that he had been shot by two masked robbers who fled in a small, dark-colored pickup truck.County authorities said this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.Officials said the investigation, assisted by the county's Major Investigations Assistance Team, is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office at 815-338-2144.An online obituary describes Jouravleff as an avid fisherman who was passionate about family and friends. He was an Air Force veteran and "a new brother in Christ" who was involved at Willow Creek Community Church in Crystal Lake."His energy and enthusiasm for life touched everyone who crossed his path," the obituary reads. He is described as a "loving husband to his wife Donna, a caring stepfather, loyal brother and doting grandpa and uncle." He worked as a maintenance technician for a real estate company, according to a memorial Facebook page.Visitation is planned for 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, followed by a service at 8 p.m., at Kisselburg-Wauconda Funeral Home, 235 N.
